Texas State police investigating alleged sexual assault

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS - Police in San Marcos are investigating a sexual assault that allegedly happened Thursday night at a residential building at Texas State University, the university's police said.

The university's police department said in a statement Friday morning that a woman reported the incident at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. She told police that the alleged assault happened at Bexar Hall on campus.

Texas State police said the alleged assaulter and victim know each other. Police said they have obtained statements from both the suspect and the alleged victim and are continuing to investigate the incident.

Police reminded students on campus to lock their doors and to always be aware of their surroundings and the people around them. Suspicious activities or people should be reported to campus police at 512-245-2805.
