HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS - As Hurricane Harvey makes its way toward Central Texas, Hays County and the City of San Marcos have activated their emergency operations center and have established a non-emergency hotline for residents.
They announced Saturday the join emergency operations center is fully activated and will be fully staffed at all times until further notice.
Several low water crossings are already closed throughout the area, but no shelters and "no unusual events have occurred."
Residents and visitors are cautioned to be aware of flying debris as winds are expected to increase, and to watch for debris and high standing water that will continue to impact roadways. Downed power lines should be avoided as they may be active even if down. Call 9-1-1 to report downed power lines.
People with non-emergency disaster-related questions should call the hotline at 512-754-2291.
