1 charged in connection to Kyle death

KYLE, TEXAS - Police have charged a man with murder in connection to the shooting death of a man in the Waterleaf neighborhood Wednesday night.

According to police, officers responded to the 100 block of Myrtle Street at around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday after hearing reports of possible gunshots in the neighborhood. When they arrived, they found a man outside with injuries. Medics arrived and tried to save him, but he did not survive. The victim was identified Thursday afternoon as Jacob Lambert, 19, of Kyle.

Shortly after the incident, officers arrested several people in connection to the incident. Police said Thursday morning reported that Andrew Ruben Martinez, 20, of Kyle has been charged with murder.

Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said the incident appears to be isolated. He said he doesn't believe there is a threat to the community at large.

Martinez is in the Hays County Jail as of Thursday afternoon. Jail records state he is being held on $500,000 bond.
