SAN MARCOS, TEXAS - San Marcos police are accepting donations and looking for volunteers to assist with their annual Blue Santa toy drive.
As part of the drive, SMPD is accepting monetary donations and new unwrapped toys (no stuffed animals) through Dec. 14. Donations and toys may be delivered to the San Marcos Police Department, or deposited at donation barrels at the Dollar General on Willow Springs Drive and at the Honda of San Marcos. The department added it is partnering with Five Below stores in Sunset Valley and New Braunfels.
Volunteers are also need to help wrap gifts for the program. Gift wrapping will be done on the following dates and times at the old Beall’s department store along Thorpe Lane:
- Tuesday Nov. 15, 6-9 p.m.
- Tuesday Nov. 22, 6-9 p.m.
- Tuesday Nov. 29, 6-9 p.m.
- Tuesday Dec. 6, 6-9 p.m.
- Thursday Dec. 8, 6-9 p.m.
- Monday Dec. 12, 6-9 p.m.
Toy pickup is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 16 at the old Beall’s, with toy delivery scheduled for 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 17.
Applications can be picked up from the San Marcos Police Department, Southside Community Center at 518 S. Guadalupe Street and the State Department of Health and Human Services office at 1901 Dutton Drive. GO HERE for more information and to apply and/or donate.
The Blue Santa program in San Marcos has delivered toys to children who might not otherwise have Christmas gifts in that community since 1972, and provides gifts to 300-400 families annually.
