Two dead in Fayette County fire

FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas – Two elderly women are believed to have died in a Friday afternoon home fire near Winchester.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to a home fire in the Clear Lake Pines subdivision off of FM 153 around 1:25 p.m. Dec. 1. Fire departments from La Grange, Winchester and South Lee County responded and found the building fully engulfed. The State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene and located two bodies in the home after the fire was extinguished.

An autopsy has been ordered, and authorities believe the bodies are that of the women who lived in the home.
