N. I-35 open after multiple cars strike, kill man

AUSTIN - A man trying to cross the Interstate 35 died after being hit by multiple cars Wednesday morning. The crash caused significant traffic delays, according to the Austin Police Department.

APD told KVUE it happened just before 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-35 near 51st street. The department's Vehicular Homicide Unit spent several hours investigating. I-35 southbound lanes at 290 are expected to be closed until at least 10 a.m.

KVUE's traffic reporter Hayley Thornton advises that drivers take U.S. 183, MoPac or the 130 Toll Road to avoid the crash.
