PETA offers reward for abandoned dog

AUSTIN - Animal rights group PETA is now offering a $5,000 reward to help find the person who abused and abandoned a dog in North Austin.

Sophie, a one-year-old boston terrier and boxer mix was found near death, lying in a crate on Croslin Street on November 2. She was wearing a brown collar with rhinestone studs embedded in it. Police said when they examined her she was still breathing, although it was initially believed she was dead.

Today she is in foster care, going from a dangerous nine pounds to a healthier 15 pounds.

Calls about how to adopt her have come in from as far away as Connecticut.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the APD Animal Cruelty Tip Line at 512-978-0523.
