Disney/ABC to award $20,000 to Austin Parks project

For Earth Month, the National Recreation and Park Association and the Walt Disney Company, including Disney Citizenship, Disney/ABC Television Group, and ESPN, have collaborated on Meet Me at the Park - a project to help revitalize parks across the country, including parks in Austin. The collaboration is an opportunity to give back to the places that shape so much of our lives.

KVUE is excited to announce that three local parks projects are up for a chance to receive $20,000 as part of #MeetMeAtThePark. Now, we need YOU to vote for your favorite park project and help it win!

The nominated park projects are:

Parque Zaragoza

The Parque Zaragoza softball/baseball field is in the advanced stage of deterioration due in part to the absence of irrigation. This project will allow for the refurbishment of the turf to provide more opportunities for sports and play.

Parque Zaragoza

The Parque Zaragoza basketball court and volleyball court are unusable in their current condition. Funding will be used to replace the surface material, poles and netting at the volleyball court, and the backboards, netting and striping at the basketball court.

Kealing School Park

The Kealing School Tennis courts send storm water downhill toward a newly developed playground. This project will collect the storm water into a pollinator meadow to encourage infiltration and provide a nearby nature play opportunity.
