The annual Veteran's Day parade filled Congress Avenue on Saturday morning, bringing more than 100 organizations together to celebrate those who served.
The theme this year was the military poppy, the red flowers were handed out as the parade took off.
For the last 50 plus years, groups from all over the country have been included in the event. Austinites say it gives them a chance to support their loved ones.
"My dad was a Korean war veteran," Nancy Knight-Brown said. "I think it's just important that we remember some of the wars that aren't so recent and make sure we remember their service. There was a picture of him in his uniform on the wall of our house for many years, it does seem there's renewed appreciation for veterans, and I'm so happy for that."
The parade ended at 11th and Congress, where crowds headed to the capitol's south steps to commemorate the fallen.
