FORT HOOD, TEXAS - Three active-duty soldiers and veterans got the surprise of a lifetime in Fort Hood Friday night.
Christmas came early, thanks to Celebration of Love organization and Caliber Collision. Those three soldiers and their families received vehicles they desperately needed and deserved.
The recipients include a veteran who served overseas five times, later awarded a Purple Heart and then had his home broken into. Then there was the soldier who is also a new mom and had her car totaled earlier this year. Finally, a car was given to an active-duty soldier with three kids, one of whom is autistic and needs doctor appointments far away from Fort Hood.
The car giveaway was part of a bigger event to give more than 300 bikes and thousands of toys to Fort Hood soldiers and their families. Many of those soldiers are overseas, so this is the only opportunity their families will get for new bikes and presents.
The cars were donated by Caliber Collision. Soldiers working to transition into civilian life are given a chance to learn about cars for a future career. For more information, click here.
