CEDAR PARK - A mosquito sample collected in Cedar Park last week has tested positive for the West Nile Virus, according to the City of Cedar Park.
The sample that tested positive for the virus was collected at the far eastern side of Brushy Creek Sports Park, near the intersection of Brushy Creek Road and Parmer Lane. The particular species of mosquito has a flight range of about one mile.
The Williamson County and Cities Health District has six traps at various locations throughout Cedar Park that collect mosquito samples to test for West Nile.
Two other mosquito samples in Williamson County tested positive for West Nile earlier this week.
The City and Health District are reminding citizens to protect themselves from mosquitoes while outdoors, especially during Halloween.
