KYLE, TEXAS - After an extensive search involving Kyle police, the Hays County Sheriff's Office and a K-9 unit, officials took two people into custody following a reported burglary incident Monday.
Around 1 p.m. on Dec. 11, the Kyle Police Department received a call about a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Hiver in the Four Seasons Farm neighborhood.
Lehman High School, located north of this area, went into a voluntary lockout for safety, meaning all doors were locked and no one could enter or leave.
Two males allegedly fled the scene, one of whom was apprehended soon after and taken into custody for questioning.
The second suspect, identified as a juvenile, fled on foot.
Neighbors reported to police that a person, fitting the second suspect's description, was seen jumping fences in the neighborhood, prompting police to conduct house-to-house and yard-to-yard searches.
After calling off the perimeter search and K-9 units, police said they were able to track down the second suspect.
"We want to commend our officers for their quick action in capturing the first suspect and then finding the second suspect who fled within a short amount of time," Chief Jeff Barnett said.
Police said the name of the first suspect is not being released at this time; The second suspect's name won't be made public because of his age, officials said.
