Building a new Austin...out of Legos

You can recognize Austin's skyline in an instant with the Frost tower, the State Capital, and the Austonian towering in the sky. But if kids had their way, how would they make Austin's skyline look?

AUSTIN - For four hours Wednesday night, the Thinkery in North Austin wasn't just a fun place for kids - it was the home of their vision - a Lego Austin with cranes, skyscrapers and some fun other additions.

"I saw a sea, I saw some boats," said Miranda Urban, area manager for PlayWell Technologies. "Just things that aren't in Austin but they want them to be."

The idea was a joint effort between PlayWell and the Thinkery to give kids a fun way to engage, learn and create some of their ideas in real life.

"That is one of the most critical aspects of growth and education," Thinkery CEO Patricia Young Brown said. "They need to have free space and free time to really be able to explore."
