AUSTIN - A massive shipment arrived in Austin Saturday morning to help with Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.
Trucks from the Boys & Girls Club in Dane County, Wisconsin brought 300,000 donated items to LBJ High School. The Boys & Girls Club of Austin said that amount is twice as much as anticipated.
The group from Wisconsin also donated $10,000.
“It's unbelievable,” Misti Potter, CEO of the Boys & Girls of Austin, said.
The supplies will first be distributed to shelters, then to areas affected by Harvey, according to the organization.
Those areas include Bastrop County, Rockport, Houston and the Beaumont-Port Arthur area.
"We have put this together in five days,” Potter said. “So that goes to show you what a really passionate group of individuals who just want to help can make happen.”
