Body found after crews douse Bastrop County house fire

One person has died after a fire broke out in Paige early Tuesday morning.

PAIGE, TEXAS - After fire crews extinguished a fire at a single-story home in Bastrop County, they discovered a body inside the home, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office.

However, officials said it's too early to determine if the cause of the fire is suspicious.

Bastrop County Sheriff Maurice Cook said the home, located in the 300 block of Travis Road, was reported on fire at 7:45 a.m.

Officials said it took firefighters an hour to put out the blaze.

It's not known if the body belonged to a woman or a man, Sheriff Cook said. The body has been sent to the medical examiner's office.

The fire is under investigation by both the sheriff's office and the Fire Marshal.
