Woman found on Bastrop Co. road had been shot, BCSO says

Bastrop County death investigation underway

DEL VALLE, TEXAS - The woman who was found dead on a Bastrop County road early Monday morning had been shot, the sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Amber Taylor, 28, of Paige was found in the road at the intersection of FM 535 and Wolf Lane in Del Valle around 4:45 a.m. Monday. Preliminary findings indicate Taylor died from a gunshot wound, and evidence suggests the vehicle involved is missing its front driver side window.

The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office added the shooting may be drug related, and it is working with the Travis County Sheriff's Office in the investigation due to the location's proximity to the Travis/Bastrop County Line.

The sheriff's office said it reformed their narcotics team in October in response to the increase in drug-related offenses. The team, consisting of Bastrop County investigators, will focus on the increase in drug trafficking in the county, and two drug K-9s will be added in the coming weeks.

Authorities also believe the June murder of Jessica Brown was a result of a narcotic trafficking territory dispute, and that the two deaths are not related.

Anyone with information on the deaths of Amber Taylor or Jessica Brown, or information on narcotics trafficking in the county, is asked to contact the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office at 512-549-5100.
