Austinites reflect on 9/11

Austinites remember Sept. 11, 2001

The images and the victims of 9/11 will never be forgotten.

It’s been 15 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, and people in Austin can recall the exact moment everything in this country changed.

"I remember sitting in my second or third-period class and it was physics and we were all sitting around a table,” Twisha Verma said.

Verma and her husband were both in school when the news broke.

"I remember waking up in my dorm room having seen the first plane hit,” Sandenp said.

A wave of shock instantly took over, some too young to understand.

"I was in art class with Miss Dunphy, I was in California and I remember not really grasping the gravity of it all,” Nick Politi said

Verma compares 9/11 to Pearl Harbor for the younger generation, only being able to catch a glimpse through photos and videos, but for millions, it's a part of history that's all too real.
