South Austin SWAT situation ends peacefully

AUSTIN - A SWAT situation in south Austin ended peacefully after a three-hour standoff, police said Sunday night.

Police said they responded to the 2400 block of Kathy Cove just before 7 p.m. after a person called and said they felt "suicidal and homicidal".

When police arrived on the scene, they found a 59-year-old man inside the residence, who refused to leave the home.

Officials said at one point, the man threatened to shoot the officers and other people.

SWAT was called out to the scene to set a perimeter around the home.

Just after 10 p.m., police said the man left the home without incident and surrendered to police.

It's not known if there were weapons inside the home.

The man was transported to a hospital for treatment.
