Police searching for suspect in North Austin murder

AUSTIN - Police are searching for the suspect in a Sunday shooting in North Austin.

Court documents filed Monday allege Jose Medel Martinez Lopez, 34, shot and killed Jose Pedro Dominguez-Campos, 53. Police said they were called to the 900 block of Bird Creek Drive around 6:45 p.m. Sunday and found the victim with gunshot wounds to his chest and back. Dominguez-Campos was transported to University Medical Center-Brackenridge, where he died from his injuries around 7:25 p.m.

Lopez’s common law wife told police he and the victim lived together with their families, had not been getting along and argued often. She said she saw the two arguing over moving another vehicle out of the driveway before witnessing Lopez shoot the victim numerous times. The affidavit states he left the scene in a grey Nissan Maxima with license plate BHY-1689.

Police said that Lopez is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5'6" and 200 pounds. He is also known as Jose Martinez and has associates in the areas of Rundber/Lamar, Leander and San Antonio.
