Austin hospital takes in NICU babies from Corpus Christi ahead of Hurricane Harvey

Dell Children's hospital is taking care of seven babies from Corpus Christi in its neonatal intensive care unit this morning.

AUSTIN - Dell Children's Medical Center helped out some of the smallest and most vulnerable coastal residents that would have been affected by Hurricane Harvey early Friday morning.

The hospital took in seven babies from the neonatal intensive care unit at Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi and placed them in the Level 4 NICU at their Austin location.

“Being part of the Texas Hospital Association of Texas made it easy for us to communicate directly with Driscoll Children’s Hospital and partner to meet their needs,” said Deb Brown, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Dell Children's. “They had excellent foresight, alerting us early and giving us time to respond. We’re honored to help care for their patients in this time of need.”

Hospital representatives said the NICU babies will stay at Dell Children's until it is safe for them to return back to South Texas,
