When crews arrived, flames were coming out of at least one unit. Crews attacked the blaze that began on the second floor with multiple lines. At 5:50 p.m., AFD said they had reduced to first alarm units with most of the visible fire put out, and did not find anything or anyone in their search of the building.
At around 6:30 p.m., an official with AFD said that 16 units have been "heavily affected" by either smoke, fire or water. According to AFD, 10 people are displaced.
The total monetary damage at the apartment is estimated at $100,000 for the structure and $50,000 for the contents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
