Police ID man struck, killed on Slaughter Lane

AUSTIN - Police say a 30-year-old man died when he was struck and killed near Slaughter Lane and Palace Parkway on Nov. 24.

APD said Sean Gayle was crossing Slaughter Lane midblock when he was struck by a sedan traveling eastbound. Austin-Travis County EMS said they responded to the scene around 8 p.m. Nov. 24, and both APD and EMS report that Gayle died at the scene.

The driver of the sedan remained on scene after the crash, APD added.

The case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit detectives at 512-974-8544. This is the 63rd fatal crash and 68th fatality on Austin roads in 2017.
