APD responds to reports of shots fired at short-term rental

Shooting at short-term rental property

AUSTIN - Police responded to reports of shots fired at a short-term rental property early Saturday morning, KVUE's and the Austin American-Statesman's Tony Plohetski confirmed.

Austin police Lt. Ken Hobbs told the Statesman, the incident happened at a rental property in the 100 block of E. Odell St, west of Interstate 35, around 2:45 a.m.

Police say multiple people were injured while running from the gunshots, but no gunshot wounds were reported.

The Statesman reports, no one has been detained and the investigation is ongoing.

A similar incident was reported a few days ago, by a well-known local author and chef, Georgia Pellegrini.

On Friday, she posted on Twitter that a renter through Airbnb destroyed her home. "They had weapons and drugs and shots were fired as police arrived. 25 casings found."

"There were drugs. Everything I own is ruined," she added.

Hobbs told the Statesman, the two incidents appear to be separate.
