AUSTIN -- A National Guardsman who almost lost his life in Afghanistan is honored for serving his country and community.

Progressive Insurance gave Todd Plybon and his family a refurbished 2011 Kia Sol Wednesday.

It's part of the company's Keys to Progress program, which recognizes wounded veterans and the people who care for them.

"It's going to be a lot better now with a newer car that will be more comfortable on the road, new shocks, so Todd won't be jostled so much during the drive, definitely will help us out a lot," said Tara Plybon, Todd's wife.

An IED attack injured Plybon in Afghanistan in 2009. His wife started a monthly support group for caregivers of wounded soldiers.
