WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas -- The Texas Secretary of State approved Williamson County’s application to take part in their countywide polling place program.

The program will eliminate county election precinct polling places and establish countywide polling places or vote centers so that voters can go to any voting location on Election Day.

The program already has been implemented successfully in Travis County.

Under the program, countywide polling places would be used starting with the May 11, 2013, election and be all electronic.

Currently, approximately 65 percent of the voters participate in early voting, which is all electronic and voters can vote at any location.

Vote Centers would not be used for primary elections.
