A warning has been sent from the Texas Department of State Health Services about pertussis or 'whooping cough.' So far this year there have been more than 1,900 cases.

If the trend continues the state will see the highest number of pertussis cases in 50 years.

Baylor Scott & White Hospital's Dr. Brandon Browne spoke to KVUE about the issue.
