AUSTIN -- The Watershed Protection Department of Austin has officially launched a buyout program for damaged homes in the Onion Creek area.
About 115 homes are being bought out because they were damaged by Halloween floods. The City will contact homeowners and hopes to make offers within the next five months.
The homes being considered are in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Onion Creek Project area. This includes parts of Onion Creek Forest, Yarrabee Bend and Onion Creek Plantation.
