AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Planning for a new South Texas university and the effects of the recent legislative session are up for discussion as University of Texas System regents meet.
The regents are to meet in Austin on Wednesday.
Regents are to discuss principles to guide the creation of the South Texas university, which involves the merger of the University of Texas-Pan American and the University of Texas at Brownsville. A medical school is planned as part of the university.
Also up for discussion, besides recent legislation, is the naming of the Center for Latin American Law in honor of former U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.
