AUSTIN -- The U.S. Postal Service issued a new series of stamps Thursday; one of them is all about
Texas.

The 10 stamps feature the state flags of state from Texas to Wyoming along with the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The new Forever stamp for Texas features the Lone Star flag and cotton. Some asked why oil didn't make the cut.

"Cotton is the number one cash crop and has been from the origins of our state to present. We do a lot of oil business, and we do a lot of other things, but Texas is one of the biggest importers of cotton," Sam Bolen of the U.S. Postal Service said.

These are the last 10 stamps in a series that began in 2008. In all, 60 U.S. state stamps were released.
