TRAVIS COUNTY -- Two men are accused of using their cars to assault law enforcement officers.
According to an affidavit, an Austin police officer tried to stop a truck without headlights on in South Austin in October. The affidavit said the driver sped away, and that's when a black sedan intervened, driving straight at the patrol vehicle. The sedan narrowly missed the officer before picking up the first driver and speeding away.
The sedan's driver, 33-year-old Jesse Thomas, is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, deputies responded to a family disturbance call in western Travis County.
Officers said they saw a truck matching the description of a suspected vehicle leaving the scene.
Police said the driver, 23-year-old Rio Berriochoa, tried to drive away instead of stopping. He crashed his car into two Travis County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles before hitting a rock wall.
He is in custody at the Travis County Jail.
