AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- A Central Texas teenager has been arrested after brandishing a pocket knife in a confrontation with another student at their high school.
The Austin American-Statesman reports that Hays High School Principal David R. Pierce told parents Wednesday in a letter on the district's Facebook page that the student could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon even though he did not use the knife. The school is in Buda, about 15 miles south of Austin.
According to the letter, the confrontation started as a fight in a school restroom. But after the fight, one student pulled the knife. The student also faces discipline from the school.
