To celebrate Independence Day and in an effort to eliminate overcrowding through Central Texas municipal kill shelters, Texas Humane Heroes adoptions centers are offering free adoptions.

More than 300 animals are waiting for their forever homes.

Cats, kittens, and medium/large breed dogs can be adopted without any fees from June 30 through July 6.

All adoptable animals are spay/neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, tested, and given 30 free pet health insurance, a free initial vet visit and night of boarding, free bag of starter food, and other pet-related coupons and information.

Texas Humane Heroes is a non-profit organization formed by the merger of the Humane Society of Williamson County and the Cen-Tex Humane Society 2nd Chance Adoption Shelter.

It has two locations in Central Texas:

  • Leander Adoption Center: 10930 E Crystal Falls Pkwy, Leander TX 78641
  • Killeen Adoption Center: 5501 Clear Creek Rd, Killeen TX

Further information and directions can be found at www.TexasHumaneHeroes.org.

Note: Texas Humane Heroes is closed to the public on Mondays and will be closed to the public on Thursday July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
