Teenager dies in single-vehicle crash in North Austin

AUSTIN -- A teenager died Monday from injuries he sustained in an early morning January 10 crash in North Austin.

The 15-year-old Hispanic boy was driving a silver Mazda MPV at a high speed when the vehicle collided with a tree and a light pole at the intersection of Beaver Drive and Georgian Drive, according to a press release from Austin police.

The boy was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge with life threatening injuries.

A passenger was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries.

This is Austin’s 8th traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were five traffic fatalities.
