The City of Taylor has a new fire chief.
Wednesday, the Taylor City Council hired Laurence Patton Ekiss to run the 25-person department.
Ekiss has 26 years experience as a firefighter and currently serves as fire chief in Forest Hill, Texas near Paris in the northeast part of the state.
Ekiss is also a certified paramedic.
He starts his new job on Monday, May 10.
