Freezing rain, sleet possible Thursday night

AUSTIN -- The arctic cold front moved into Austin shortly before daybreak Thursday, with falling temperatures and patchy, light drizzle. Afternoon temperatures will be in the upper 30s and low 40s across the area.

Winter Weather Advisory Thursday night and Friday morning

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for Mason County starting at 6 p.m. Thursday and for Travis, Williamson, Burnet, Blanco, Llano, and Gillespie County at midnight Thursday. Patchy areas of sleet and freezing rain will be possible overnight in these areas. A few slippery spots, mainly on bridges and overpasses, will be possible for the Friday morning rush hour.

The high temperature on Friday will only be in the mid 30s under a cloudy sky.

On Saturday the forecast shows temperatures below freezing in the morning and mid 30s by the afternoon. The morning could have some freezing drizzle in it.

Sunday the temperatures will rise to the mid 40s with drizzle in the morning.

Next week is expected to be dry for Central Texas, but highs will be in the 50s.
