AUSTIN -- Texas lawmakers will honor country music legend Merle Haggard at the State Capitol.
On Monday State Rep. Doug Miller will present Haggard with a House Resolution at the south steps of the Capitol. Haggard, already a Country Hall of Fame member, was recently a Kennedy Center honoree.
Legislators are recognizing the singer for his many contributions to the state's rich musical heritage.
Haggard played at the Austin Rodeo Sunday night.
