A man who held up a South Austin bank Wednesday morning fired shots at witnesses who followed him outside, Austin police said.

It happened at the Wells Fargo at 1901 West William Cannon Drive around 10:15 a.m.  Police say a man walked into the bank, asked the teller for money and walked out.

Investigators say several witnesses followed him outside, and that's when he turned around and fired an unknown number of shots.  No one was injured, and the witnesses left.

The suspect was taken into custody less than two hours later.

If you have any information, call CrimeStoppers at 472-TIPS.
