Special Olympics TX Winter Games to kick off in Round Rock

AUSTIN -- The Special Olympics Texas Winter Games will kick off Thurs. Feb. 9 in Round Rock.

The Opening Ceremonies will take place at 7 p.m. at Round Rock High School and feature a parade of the athlete and the Athlete Oath performed by the 2011 Athletes of the Year.

This year the athletes will get to see real moon rocks, space suits, and other memorabilia from NASA at Athlete Village. The village will feature exhibits, crafts, games and entertainment and more and is located at Highland Mall. It will be available from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11. 

Athletes will also have the chance to get free health screenings at Wellness Park on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Highland Mall.
