A North Austin SWAT standoff ended Wednesday morning without incident.

Austin police went to the a duplex on Ptarmigan Drive after pulling over a vehicle on Parmer Lane. Inside that vehicle officers say they  found an 18-year-old male with a stab wound. He was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with life threatening injuries.

Authorities say the man was stabbed at the duplex during an altercation.

Witnesses say they heard gunshots coming from the duplex. But no one inside would come out when police went to the door.

Neighbors were pulled from their homes for safety and were outside watching the situation unfold.

"This is very disturbing. I live right here next to these two duplexes in a home that I own and we've never had this type of situation happen at this time of night or at any time and it's very disturbing to me. I have two kids that I'm raising and it's just very disturbing," said Debra Hughes.

So far authorities are unsure of what caused the incident.
