AUSTIN -- More than 200 law enforcement and security partners from across Texas joined together Thursday morning at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin. The group is participating in the annual Robbery Investigators of Texas (RIOT), Conference.
The three-day conference is designed to bring members of the robbery prevention community together to network and share information and ideas.
With standing room only, the group listened to speakers from around the country. The demonstrations focused on theft prevention as well as techniques for tracking and investigating robberies.
"Our goal is to work together to expand this growing network of crime prevention law enforcement robbery investigators as well as corporate security employees," said Round Rock Police Detective Shawn Scott. "I am impressed with the growth thus far. We established RIOT in 2012, but we are soon able to do away with the membership dues."
The conference lasts through Friday.
