AUSTIN -- Many will ring in 2014 with fireworks. Fireworks stands across Central Texas are open for business, and owners say all the recent rain has helped sales skyrocket this holiday season.

"We've been horribly slow," said Danny Turner with Half-Off Fireworks. "Due to the drought, we've had three of the worst years we've had until this past July. That's when the rain came in, and it was fantastic."

Workers reminded customers to be careful when using fireworks, which are banned inside most city limits, including Pflugerville and Austin.

Anyone caught setting off fireworks in city limits can be fined up to $500.
