AUSTIN -- The Republic of Texas (ROT) Biker Rally this weekend will close roads and cause traffic delays around downtown Austin. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and end at 3 a.m. Saturday.
City officials say a motorcycle procession on Friday will take off from the Travis County Exposition Center at 8 p.m. From there, motorcyclists and a police escort wil travel along East MLK Boulevard, down Webberville Road, Oak Springs Road and then west on East 11th Street. These roads will be closed during the procession.
The parade will then head down Congress Avenue. That street will be closed between Cesar Chavez and 11th Streets and between Colorado and Brazos Streets during the ROT Rally.
Drivers are urged to take alternate routes, like north and south along Interstate 35, Lamar Boulevard and Guadalupe. Drivers can also travel east and west Cesar Chavez and 15th Streets. Both directions on 11th Street, southbound Colorado and northbound Brazos Streets will be open during the ROT Rally.
