ROT Rally to affect weekend traffic

AUSTIN -- The upcoming Republic of Texas biker rally will affect traffic over the weekend.

The rally starts Thursday at 8 a.m. and lasts until Saturday at 3 a.m. Austin police warn drivers that there may be some delays in the downtown area.

A motorcycle procession will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Travis County Exposition Center. Motorcyclists will travel toward downtown Austin on MLK Jr. Boulevard, Webberville Road, Oak Springs Road and East 11th Street. There will be partial road closures Friday along this route.

The parade will continue down Congress Avenue. There will be full road closures on Congress from 6 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday for the rest of the rally.
