TRAVIS COUNTY -- Prosecutors told a Travis County jury Tuesday that a romantic triangle may have been the motive for murder in the case of former Pedernales firefighter Joe Carr.

Carr is charged with murder and evidence tampering. He's accused of killing Veronica Navarro in July 2011.

Workers repairing a dock found her body in Lake Travis, only a few feet from the shore.

According to KVUE's partners at the Austin American-Statesman, prosecutors think she died about three weeks earlier. They say Carr and Navarro had an on-and-off relationship, but she planned to get back together with another man.

Carr's attorney says they have not produced any evidence that he killed her.
