AUSTIN -- Preparations for an Austin Thanksgiving tradition are underway at the Palmer Event Center for HEB's Annual Feast of Sharing.
Inside the Eddie Garcia Mobile Kitchen (an 18-wheeler equipped to cook), staffers will prepare 2,500 meals an hour. Overall, staffers will cook about 3,500 pounds of turkey, 3,500 gallons of mashed potatoes, 1,400 pies and much more.
The Feast of Sharing is a way for HEB to celebrate the holiday season, serve a nutritious, free meal and give back to the community they serve at this festive time of year.
The event will also have live music and 15 non-profit organizations to offer social services to guests.
There will be free parking at the event, or visitors can pick up a free Capital Metro pass to ride to the event at five area H-E-B stores.
Cap Metro passes will be available at the following HEB locations:
- 2701 E. 7th Street
- 1000 E. 41st Street
- 2400 S. Congress Avenue
- 2508 E. Riverside Drive
- 944 N. Lamar Boulevard
The feast takes place Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Go here for more information.
