AUSTIN -- Police are investigating Austin's first bank robbery of the year.

APD says a man approached a Chase Bank inside the H-E-B grocery store on Canyon Ridge Drive near Interstate 35 and Parmer Lane around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16.

The suspect reportedly demanded money and left the scene in a dark sedan.

Police say the suspect is a white man in his mid-50s or older. He is 5'11" to 6' with blue eyes and a scruffy gray beard. He weighs about 170 pounds.

The man was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark jacket, a gray shirt, jeans and black shoes.
