AUSTIN -- Austin police are investigating the first homicide of 2014.
9:00 a.m. update: APD investigation detectives need the public's assistance in identifying and locating two vehicles that witnesses said left the scene shortly after the fatal shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon in Southwest Austin.
Police are searching for these two vehicles:
- 4-door, dark colored sedan
- Mid to late 90s shiny emerald green or teal Cadillac (possibly a Cadillac DeVille)
The investigation into this case continues.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text "Tip 103" including your message to CRIMES.
The first 911 call came from inside the home of 5600 block of Porsche Lane just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday, saying someone had been shot.
Police say there were several other people inside at the time but no one else was hurt. Investigators believe the shooter or shooters went inside the home, shot the man and then left.
Witnesses tell police there were several cars and they sped off down nearby Honey Dew lane.
Sgt. Anthony Hipolito with the Austin Police Department said, "As far as the public safety goes we have enough information on scene that leads us to believe this is not a random act so as far as to the fear of something like this happening again to a stranger."
Sgt Hipolito said just by looking at the door, he could see no signs of forced entry into the home.
Neighbors gave officers some vague descriptions of the suspects and their vehicles, but police they can not release any of that information at this time.
The motive here is still unknown.
