Convicted killer Colton Pitonyak has been denied his latest appeal.

Pitonyak was convicted in January 2007 in the mutilation death of Jennifer Cave in his West Campus apartment.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals rejected his latest argument that Laura Hall actually committed the murder.

The court gave no written opinion.

Hall was convicted of evidence tampering and hindering apprehension in the case.  Pitonyak, now 27, is serving a 55-year sentence.

Cave's decapitated and dismembered body was found in Pitonyak's West Campus bathtub in August 2005.

Hall is due back in court next month after being granted a new sentencing trial on appeal.
