AUSTIN -- Police have identified the man swept away in an Austin creek on Nov. 22 as 57-year-old Ronald M. Allen.
A witness says they saw Allen slip into the rushing water of a creek that's an offshoot of Walnut Creek around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 22. He fell into the water west of I-35 and was transported to the east side of the highway before being rescued. Officials estimate the man was in the water for about 15 minutes.
Crews performed CPR on him and transported him with life-threatening injuries to University Medical Center Brackenridge. KVUE received word he had died just before 3 p.m. on Nov. 22.
Police initially had trouble identifying the man and asked the public's help. He was finally identified on Dec. 6.
