BUDA, Texas -- A grandmother is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Buda.

It happened Monday morning on FM 1626 near Jerrys Lane. Officials say a dump truck carrying sand was headed east on 1626 when the male driver lost control, traveled into the westbound lane and fell on top of a car carrying a woman and a child.

The woman has been identified as 58-year-old Trisha Marie Foulkrod. The child was her grandson.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Foulkrod had apparently seen the truck veering toward her and had pulled over in her lane as far as she could go in an effort to avoid a crash. Her car was found against the road's guardrail.

The child was in a car seat and was examined by paramedics and released. He was picked up from the scene by a family member.

"All I can say was that it is a miracle," said DPS Trooper Jacob Burlinson. "He was unharmed, and he is fine. He's with his family, but he is okay. Again we don't know how he wasn't hurt, but he is fine, and like I said, it's a miracle."

FM 1626 is closed to through traffic between Oakwood Drive and Westway Drive until at least noon, or as long as it takes crews to clear the scene. Multiple crews are on site trying to upright the truck.
